THE BIGGER PICTURE Understanding the intricate architecture of neuronal connectivity is fundamental to unraveling brain function and disease mechanisms. Whole-brain imaging has revolutionized neuroscience, yet existing methods struggle to balance large-scale imaging with high-resolution detail. The timeconsuming processing time of classical Golgi-Cox staining has been a major bottleneck, limiting its widespread application in brain research. Our development of a rapid neuronal staining method significantly accelerates whole-brain imaging, making high-resolution neuronal visualization feasible across a range of model organisms, including larger brains like those of pigs. This breakthrough not only enhances the efficiency of neuroscience research but also paves the way for broader applications, from mapping complex neural circuits to facilitating neuropathological studies. By enabling faster and more scalable imaging, this advancement has the potential to drive new discoveries in brain science, inspire technological innovations, and ultimately contribute to a deeper understanding of the human brain.
