Another Way Home Raney Deborah by Raney, Deborah; instant download after payment.

Setting: Fictional town of Langhorne, Missouri Drew Whitman, 28, has had his heart broken more than once. Now he's pretending to be a confirmed bachelor, and fending off his sisters' efforts to play matchmaker by moving to St. Louis and shutting himself off from the family who loves him. Only when his dad has a mild heart attack does Drew agree to come home to help his mother with the B&B. Things go well until Drew begins to fall in love with the woman who runs the bakery that supplies the Chicory Inn's breakfast pastries. And Grandma CeeCee isn't the only one who's concerned that Shayla Michaels is eight years older than Drewand bi-racial. Shayla Michaels, 36, has overcome the odds to open her popular bakery on the riverfront in Cape Girardeau. Besides drawing a nightly crowd of college kids willing to part with their money for a hot donut and a designer latte, she's also earned a reputation as a great caterer. She works 10-hour days six days a week, but since her parents divorce back in Chicago, she's distanced herself from even her extended family. Besides making her a good living, her hard work has kept her mind off the painful facts about her family. When Drew Whitman starts showing up regularly to pick up pastries for the B&B his parents run, she is drawn to himand his familyin a way she can't describe. But as much as Drew's parents seem to like her, when they learn that she and Drew are romantically involved, it suddenly seems to be a different story. All her life, Shayla has felt like she straddles two worlds. Precariously. Her father's family long ago labeled her mother as white-trash. And likewise, her mother's family labeled her African American father and his family with names Shayla didn't repeat in politewell, in any company. Yet she knew God loved them all. Why couldn't they see that?
