The original Arban’s Complete Edition did not treat all scales equally. For example, he wrote many scale exercises for the key of C, but almost nothing for the key of F#. No key in music can be considered less important, and the only “difficult” keys are the ones which you are not familiar with. Also, Arban wrote almost nothing for learning minor keys and the various minor modes (natural, harmonic, and melodic minors).
Our edition treats all the scales equally and has two exercises based on the Arban’s for every Major key. We also added a basic arpeggio in each key since scales are often paired with arpeggios in tests of your musical technique.
