Georg Ludwig Heinrich Nicolaus von Below (1907 – 1983) was a German aristocrat of Prussian descent who trained as a pilot in 1929 as part of the DVS, and from 1929-1935 served in the German Infantry. After 1935 and the formation of the Luftwaffe, he transferred out of the infantry and into that service where he operated as a fighter pilot with JG 132 and JG 26, upto his new posting in June 1937. The newly promoted Oberst von Below now aged 29 was personally chosen by the Luftwaffe's Commander Hermann Goering, to become The Third Reich's new leader Adolf Hitler's, own personal Luftwaffenadjutant. He was meant to only hold this position for a few years at most, before handing over to his replacement. Instead he held the post through to 1945, and over time became one of Hitler's most trusted confidents and military advisors.
