This special issue is devoted to the legacy of Moishe Postone, an editor of the journal since its founding, who died in March 2018. Postone was the Thomas E. Donnelley Professor in the Department of History and the College at the University of Chicago and was the author of Time, Labor, and Social Domination: A Reinterpretation of Marx’s Critical Theory, unquestionably one of the great works of critical theory of the past several decades. He also published many articles and essays on critical theory, the history of capitalism, and modern anti-Semitism. In April of 2019, a conference dedicated to Postone’s memory was held at the University of Chicago. It brought together Postone’s friends, students, and interlocutors for two intense days of talks and discussion. It seems works of critical theory of the past several decades.
