Voyage to Vaju is a science fiction novel set just before the turn of the twenty-first century when budget constraints decimated NASA's budget. The government offers various incentives to encourage space exploration by private companies. Of course, there is sabatoge of the first private space project as their first launch date approaches. It is supposed to be a quick trip to the moon merely to demonstrate the capabilities of their rocket and their powerful and newly discovered fuel mixture. An elaborate and secret plan is undertaken to thwart any future sabatoge, which might possibly delay their highly publicized launch. They manage to take off on time. The astronauts making this first trip discover probems soon after the launch including problems with their fuel regulator and possibly unknown capabilities of their powerful fuel which was rushed into production. It is hard for them to regulate the fuel to get the proper thrust. They pass the orbit of Mars before they can sort out their problems. And the problems continue to multiply.
