Martin Engineering, Neponset, Illinois, has published a new edition of its non-commercial book on the causes and cures for fugitive material to improve belt conveyor operations. Titled FOUNDATIONS 3: The Practical Resource for Total Dust & Material Control, the new 216-page, hardbound book is the third in the series of books from Martin Engineering that detail ways to control dust and spillage and improve belt conveyor performance. "The title and the book's message are born in our belief that to have clean, safe, and productive bulk material handling, plants need to assure total control of material on their belt conveyors," said Todd Swinderman, CEO of Martin Engineering and one of the book's authors. "FOUNDATIONS 3 represents the continuing growth and evolution of practices for the control of material movement and the improvement of belt conveyor operations," Swinderman said. "It reflects the information we have learned in real world applications on conveyors and transfer points." The new volume is the sequel to FOUNDATIONS 2: The Pyramid Approach For Dust and Spillage Control From Belt Conveyors, published in 1997, and FOUNDATIONS: Principles of Design and Construction of Belt Conveyor Transfer Points, published in 1991. Joining Swinderman as authors of FOUNDATIONS 3 were Martin Engineering's Larry J. Goldbeck, Manager of Conveyor Technology, and Andrew Marti, Marketing Communications Manager, with assistance from a number of other employees.
