Gods Action In The World A New Philosophical Analysis Marek Somka by Marek Słomka 9781350180383, 9781350180413, 1350180386, 1350180416 instant download after payment.

The problem of God’s action in the world is at the heart of debates today on the relationship between science and religion. By analysing the issue through the lens of analytic philosophy, Marek Slomka reveals how philosophy can successfully bridge science and theology to bring greater clarity to divine action.
This book identifies essential aspects from various branches of theism, starting with traditional Thomistic approaches, through to their modified forms such as Molinism and contemporary varieties such as free-will theism and probabilistic theism. Analysing crucial elements of God’s nature including omnipotence, omniscience, his relation to time and the tension between immanence and transcendence, Slomka reveals the difficulties in proposing a single conception of God through one theistic tradition. Instead of simplistically juxtaposing particular theistic trends, he highlights the value of pluralistic insights that also draw on important scientific theories, including Darwin’s evolution, quantum mechanics and cosmology.
By taking a renewed stance on theism that takes into account modern scientific knowledge, this book argues for a new presentation of the problem of God’s action in the world and justifies the need for further discussion on contemporary manifestations of internal and external criticism of theism.
The primary aim of this book is to present and analyse, from the perspective of philosophy, the problem of God’s action in the world. Additional goals include the identification of the key elements of the matter in question and justification that the issue of divine God’s action in the world can be presented in a fundamental way in relation to current philosophical discourse. In order to achieve all of aforementioned purposes, one has to take into account various philosophical systems and many forms of theistic reflection. The author of this work determines the reasons and ways of arguing of those who stress the need for renewed investigation of the problem of God’s action in the world.
The entirety of the analyses conducted in the present study clearly proves that the question of divine action in the world is of essential significance to theism. This is understandable considering that the problem of divine action in the world pertains to the most fundamental ontological relationship. For this reason, one would be hard pressed to find philosophers of God who maintain that the question of the Creator-creation interaction is merely a marginal component of research. Despite the widely voiced declarations stressing the weight of reflection in this area, it is still not appropriately represented in subject-related literature. One can indicate many studies which involve the specific aspects of the discussed problem. However, there is no substantial number of monographs which would accentuate this field of theism. This state of affairs has become one of the main reasons to undertake detailed investigations of the problem of God’s action in the world and highlight the importance thereof.
