Sheila Craig Waengler is the daughter of James H. Craig, architect, and Grace Morris Craig, artist and author, and widow of Ernst G. Waengler, writer and foreign correspondent for the Neue Zurcher Zeitung. Sheila grew up in Toronto's Lawrence Park neighbourhood during the Depression. Life wasn't always easy, but she still managed to have many childhood adventures in and out of the city. After following in her mother's footsteps by attending Branksome Hall, an all-girls school in Toronto, Sheila enrolled at University College at the University of Toronto, where she studied Fine Arts and Archeology and started acting in productions at Hart House Theatre.
