This is a wonderful book. Published in 2013 by Eduardo Kohn.
He took an ethnographic approach to the village of Ávila in the Amazon in Ecuador, Central and South America, a country that was ruled by Spain for hundreds of years before it became an independent state in 1809.
Kohn lived with the Quichua-speaking Runa people and participated in observing how they relate themselves to the various "beings" they live in in the densest forest in the world.
