When I look at 'how-to' training materials for photography, my primary interest is the quality of the images produced by the author. Seems reasonable to assume is that the point of books, DVDs, classes, etc. is for the teacher to show us how to do what they do. In this case, Smith's images are competent but repetitive and boring; not a combination to which I aspire. I checked the book out from our local library and while I appreciate the text, I certainly wouldn't buy the book for future reference or inspiration.
