Lessons From Past Floods Destruction Restoration And Future Preparation A Guide For Being Prepared For A Natural Disaster Julia L Wright by Julia L Wright instant download after payment.

Reading about past floods and learning how to prepare for a flood or another natural disaster may not sound that interesting, but if you find yourself faced with an evacuation from your home or the consequences of a natural disaster, you will be wishing you had been more prepared.
When in the midst of a natural disaster, it becomes a page turning thriller of an adventure that you can be the hero for if you are properly prepared.

"This is a concise read that includes some background, first-hand experience and the way forward in preparedness for ANY locale, even those that are new to what we normally think of as 'flood prone'. I live in New York City and our recent bout with previously unheard of flooding makes Lessons From Past Floods an important and potentially life-saving read no matter where you live." Bob Estramera

Floods are the most common natural disaster experienced in the United States. Annually over one-third of economic losses caused by natural disasters can be attributed to floods.

Climate changes and unchecked urban development have affected the way flood risk is managed. Storm water systems have not kept pace with the growing population in many areas.

Wildfires in the Western States have turned many acres of normally very absorbent soil into hydrophobic soil, increasing the amount of rain water will be tumbling into creeks and heading downstream in larger amounts and increasing the chances of flooding.

This book is based on two floods experienced in the late 1990’s in a small Historic tourist town in the foothills of Colorado.

Knowledge about how to discern if you live in a flood risk area or will be traveling where past natural disasters have occurred can help you be more prepared if faced with a weather or earth shaking related natural disaster.
This book can help you understand ways to manage the risk of flooding on your property. Knowledge of signs of floods in your area and having an evacuation plan are paramount to protecting your property and family during times of a natural disaster.

Use this book as a guide for ways to be more prepared and help ensure the safety of your family if a flood, or any natural disaster happens in your vicinity.
Creating and storing Emergency Disaster Survival Bags and Bug Out Bags or Buckets at your home is simple and can make your evacuation more efficient. Having many items already packed and ready to take with you can help prevent having a feeling of panic when faced with such a challenging situation.

This book includes important knowledge everyone can use to be more prepared for a flood and how to handle the aftermath of a flood in their vicinity.

There are photographs and two true stories about floods that occurred in Manitou Springs, CO in the late 1990’s to help give a better perspective of the types of weather situations that can cause a flood and the destructive nature of a flood. The photographs of the beautifully restored historical buildings can give hope to individuals or a town that experiences the devastating power of flood.

Some of the topics covered in this book include:
What is a flood?

About the Author

Julia L. Wright lives in a small Colorado mountain town that is filled with natural mineral springs, holistic healers, creative chefs, writers and artists.  This book was recently featured in the Pikes Peak Bulletin in Manitou Springs.

A few years ago, she began writing books and has helped friends create books based on knowledge they have relating to holistic healing and other great stories. Julia's books are based on real life challenges she has encountered and solutions she discovered while moving through these challenges.

Julia has experienced two floods in Manitou Springs. They both occurred in the late 1990's. Recently a forest fire turned 18,000 acres of beautiful forests into a barren landscape with hydrophobic soil. There are 106 watersheds that drain directly into Manitou Springs and many other cities nearby. The main watershed would follow the path that the William's Canyon Flood followed in 1999 and is pictured within this book.

Photography is a creative interest Julia actively pursues on all her hikes and travels around the country and world. Capturing unique views of everyday items or the hidden beauty in rocks and driftwood or a beautiful flower is her goal. This book is filled with photographs she took when the town was flooded and of the beautifully restored historic buildings that grace Manitou Springs historic downtown area now.

Currently her creative side, when not writing, is focused on creating fun and transformational feathered Fantafaces masks. She also creates feathered hair clips and earrings and enjoys incorporating found objects in her pins and feather based wall art pieces.

Watch for more books in the coming months related both to be prepared for a Natural Disaster, ways to creating a more sustainable life and ways to enjoy optimum health and enjoy the abundance of wealth and beauty that this world offers us every day.
