Ruralia VII, 8th – 14th September 2007, Cardiff, Wales, U.K.
The seventh Ruralia colloquium was held at Cardiff from the 8th to 14th September 2007, and continued the tradition of the Jean Marie Pesez conferences to convene scholars from all parts of Europe to present papers on recent research into the archaeology of medieval rural settlement. Sixty-five delegates attended from fifteen countries, and heard during the course of the week forty-six papers or poster presentations. This volume presents some of these results from the Cardiff meeting, the first in the United Kingdom, and brings the published total of papers to over two hundred for the seven colloquia held since 1995, while over three hundred colleagues from twenty-two countries have participated in the meetings and the discussions that ensued. We are indebted to Professor Jan Klápště and his colleagues for continuing to edit and publish our proceedings so promptly.
