This knight-in-shining-armor complex is going to be the death of me.
After one of the roughest nights of my life, a hot-as-hellfire corpo bombshell walked into my humble detective agency. Dressed like a billion bucks, with a navel-deep neckline, and heels so high that her legs faded into the stratosphere. You know, the kind of broad that’s always good news.
She came to me with the most unusual case. A concubine of hers went dark inside the virtual world of Metal. An easy enough job on paper—but I should’ve known better. In this age of affordable beauty, you should never trust a woman with more money than God.
Yet, I needed the dough, and hindsight is 20/20.
Metal was a dungeonpunk gamified world simulation. Stone castles the shape of mountain-sized skulls. Dragon riding knights with chainsaw-powered swords. Elf bards wielding flame-throwing guitars. He-Man through Iron Maiden. Metal was loud, gory, lascivious, sometimes ridiculous, but always awesome.
When plugging your brain into the vanilla net, the interface overrode all your senses to convince you you were there. But when you jacked into a game world, something else happened to your body. Your RPG stats got to determine what you could do. So, good Dex meant you could actually walk on walls, even if in the real you could barely climb up a flight of stairs without deflating. A high enough level and you could rip and tear monsters’ behinds with your naked hands.
Metal was also an uncensored adult experience. Meaning you could have casual sex in there if you wanted. And, oh boy, did people wanted. It was as pie to hook up there, given that whoever you met could be connected from anywhere in the world. Everybody used Metal as a vacation hookup hub.
And the babes! Don’t get me started on the babes. Every single one looked like a pinup that escaped from a 2nd edition D&D rulebook. And even though they didn’t have to wear bikini armor, it was like… Women don’t have to wear two inches of cloth to the beach either, yet they do.
So, yeah, it was dead easy to get distracted while looking for the missing concubine. But I’m a professional. One can indulge in some vice while still doing one’s job. There’s such a thing as multitasking.
Still, what sounded like a quiet, relaxing case, turned out to be a drastically optimistic miscalculation on my part.
The thing’s that, that corpo bombshell wasn’t being all that truthful when she hired me. And before I knew what was what, I was standing in the middle of a mega-corp turf war. The poor little concubine had made away with some industrial espionage. The kind that people kill for. The kind that can change the world as we know it (change it for the worse, as these things usually go).
So, I had to find this missing kid before the secrets she stole fell into the wrong hands.
Metal Online: Season 1 is a collection of the nine episodes that make up the first arc of this steamy LitRPG harem series. If you enjoy cyberpunk detective stories, fast-paced action, explicit sex, striking women, and the duality of virtual/real life, then you’ll love Blake Sky’s descent into a heavy metal infused dark fantasy world.
