The revised "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, SEI/ASCE 7-02", gives the latest consensus requirements for dead, live, soil, flood, wind, snow, rain, ice, and earthquake loads, and their combinations, that are suitable for inclusion in building codes and other documents. "SEI/ASCE 7-02" is a revision of "ASCE 7-98". Revisions incorporated in "SEI/ASCE 7-02" include significant changes made to the following sections: general provisions, load combinations, live loads, flood loads, wind loads, snow loads, earthquake loads, and atmospheric ice loads. The Earthquake Load Provisions in "SEI / ASCE 7-02" are now substantially adopted by reference in the 2003 International Building Code and the 2002 NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code. Numerous other provisions of all other SEI/ASCE 7-02 are also adopted by reference by both model building codes including the provisions for calculating wind loads and snow loads thereby making SEI/ASCE 7 an integral part of the building codes of the United States.
