About the Author
Gampopa Sönam Rinchen (1079–1153) was the foremost student of the great yogi Milarepa and is famous for uniting the Kadam tradition and the Mahamudra teachings in the Kagyü lineage in the early twelfth century. Many teachers well known in the West today, including the Karmapa and Pema Chödrön, follow the tradition he set forth.
Ken Holmes has spent his entire adult life, since 1970, immersed in Tibetan Buddhism and had the great fortune to study closely with some of the legendary masters of old Tibet who have long since passed. He has been teaching Buddhism, especially in Europe and Africa, for forty years and is Director of Studies at Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland.
