70 reviewsNotable changes include a change in title to Oxford Handbook of Pathology rather than Oxford Handbook of Clinical Pathology. This revised title is thought to better reflect the content of the book which is predominantly anatomic/ cellular pathology rather than the other pathology disciplines which are often collectively referred to as clinical pathology.
A new chapter on laboratory techniques has been added to explain the basics of commonly used ancillary techniques in pathology, particularly immunohistochemistry and molecular tests. The cardiac and vascular chapters have been combined into a single car- diovascular pathology chapter, which reflects the very close relationship between these two organ systems.
A new entry on COVID- 9 has been added to the infectious diseases chapter as one cannot possibly ignore the impact this novel coronavirus has had on the world since the previous edition. All other chapters have also been updated, with particular focus on tumour pathology and new molecular diagnostic techniques.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contributors who delivered their chapters whilst navigating the challenges of a pandemic and huge diagnostic reporting obligations. Thanks also to the team at Oxford University Press for their understanding and patience during the production of this new edition.
