Panzer Iv The Wehrmachts Armoured Fist Carlos Caballero Jurado Lucas Molina Franco by Carlos Caballero Jurado & Lucas Molina Franco instant download after payment.

Though the Tiger and Panther tanks got all the press coverage, the Panzerkampfwagen IV was the backbone of Germany's Panzerwaffe throughout World War II. The only German tank in production before the war, the Panzer IV was still being manufactured at war's end. Progressively developed from 1937 to 1945, the Panzer IV saw combat on all fronts and even had a postwar career, serving various countries until the 1960s! Carlos Jurado and Lucas Franco describe the development and combat history of this German workhorse in PANZERKAMPFWAGEN IV, THE WEHRMACHT'S ARMOURED FIRST, a 2006 AF Editions release.

PANZER IV is three stories in one. The first 70-odd pages of the book focus on the Panzer IV's birth, evolution and combats on the various fronts. Designed as an infantry support tank, the Pz.Kpfw IV, originally armed with a short-barrel 75mm gun, was re-equipped with a long-barrel, high-velocity 75mm gun and up-armored to counter Soviet T-34s, becoming Germany's Main Battle Tank. Over 8,600 Panzer IVs were manufactured, the tank making up over 30% of the Panzerwaffe tank inventory. A second chapter details the Panzer IV's Spanish service from 1943 to 1965. A final, concluding chapter describes the renovation of a 'gate guardian' Spanish Panzer IV.

PANZER IV has many things going for it: , an excellent collection of b&w and color pix and color profiles and four-view of 46 different Panzer IV models serving in German, Spanish, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Finnish colors. The color artwork by Julio Caeiro and Luis & Carlos Crespo is absolutely SUPERB! On the negative side, the translation from Spanish to English makes for clunky reading.

Though PANZER IV - visually - is a very appealing package, the belabored text and lack of an index resulted in a four-star rating. Overall, the book offers a comprehensive, well-illustrated overview of one of Germany's longest-serving and most effective metal monsters. Recommended...(Amazon Reviews)
