Purchasing And Supply Chain Management 7th Edition Kenneth Lysons Brian Farrington by Kenneth Lysons & Brian Farrington 9780273694380, 0273694383 instant download after payment.

The first edition of this book appeared in 1981 as a short revision aid for purchasing
students. In the intervening years the book has increased in size and content. The
present seventh edition may fairly claim to be the most comprehensive textbook on
purchasing and supply chain management published in the UK. In particular it offers
the following features provided by no other competing UK text:
n An Instructor’s Manual and PowerPoint slides online at www.pearsoned.co.uk/lysons.
n Every chapter has a case study, discussion questions and sample past examination
questions taken (by permission) from the examinations of the Chartered Institute of
Purchasing and Supply.
n A glossary of purchasing and supply definitions, acronyms and foreign words and
phrases.
n An index of names and organisations referred to in the text.
There are three important changes in this seventh edition that require special mention.
1. There is a change in authorship; Dr Brian Farrington is now co-author with Dr Kenneth
Lysons. Dr Lysons and Dr Farrington have been friends and colleagues over many
years. Together they bring to the writing of this book both sound academic knowledge
and a wide practical experience of purchasing and supply chain management
both as practitioners and consultants.
2. There is a change of content. To allow for more in-depth discussion of purchasing
and supply chain issues the chapters on storing supplies, transporting goods and human
resources in the supply chain included in the sixth edition have been omitted. New
chapters relate to supplier relationships and product innovation, supplier involvement
and development. Every one of the remaining chapters has been extensively
revised. Redundant material has been ruthlessly pruned and a substantial amount
of new material added. While a separate chapter on public sector purchasing has
not been included there are a number of references at appropriate places throughout
the book.
3. The sixth edition stated that the book aimed to be both a textbook for students and
a guidebook for practitioners.
As a textbook, coverage is provided of the syllabus of the Chartered Institute of
Purchasing and Supply at both the Foundation and Professional stages.
Candidates for all the papers comprising the Foundation Stage examination will find
the book helpful and complete coverage is provided of the Introduction to Supply
and Materials Management syllabus.
