ABOUT THE BOOK

Like many young girls, I related to the character of Jo. Always feeling like a bull in a china shop or slightly out of place, it gave me hope that Jo had found her place in the world, and not finding her place in the world, she went out and conquered her world as a writer. As an aspiring writer myself, I came back again and again to get encouragement from the "irascible" Jo.Years later, when I see the copy of "Little Women" on my shelf, I think back to myself as a young person, trying to find out who I was, and how I fit in. I remember how reading aboutJo's courage helped me know that I would be okay.

Later, he gives her a piano of her very own. Each of the girls has small adventures in which their character is tested. Amy is discovered smuggling pickled limes into school. It is the fashion for girls to trade limes. For this transgression, Amy is hit across her hands and made to stand in front of her class for fifteen minutes.
