Curiosity has driven my thirst to see, touch, and feel other cultures all over the world—hence my love of travel. It has caused me to probe the underworld of success as well as failure. Radical curiosity is a way to approach the world that is primarily driven by the desire to know and understand more about yourself and the world at large. As I was writing the stories of my life, I saw emerge what I believe to be the main characteristics of radical curiosity:

•  Perpetual openness to self-discovery—we never stop “growing” up.

•  A relentless interest in the diversity of the people of the world (put another way: having both an open mind and an open heart). Ambition with integrity: while plowing or dancing forward, remaining mindful of your values, and living by then—regardless of what siren songs might attempt to distract.

•  The desire to always seek to learn and to teach what we know, and then go on to learn something else. It includes a mantra: Breathe, learn, teach, repeat.

•  The willingness to allow for pauses in life—they sometimes provide the opportunity for reevaluation, reprioritization, cocooning, and even, sometimes, rebirth.

•  Respect for death as a part of life, not simply its end. It provides the ongoing time beat for just about everything.

Without a doubt, this radical curiosity has made boredom an infrequent visitor in my life. Now it has motivated me to stitch together my stories from the journey of my life to see just what kind of tapestry they form.
