Since the publication of 5th
 edition of Rogers’ Handbook of Pediatric Intensive Care, medical science has
changed significantly. Innovations in healthcare were further propelled by the urgent need to control and

and updating the handbook of one of the most well-read and respected resources in this speciality, Rogers’
Handbook of Pediatric Intensive Care.
Keeping in mind the disparity in available healthcare in resource-rich and resource-limited healthcare sys-
tems, this South Asian edition also includes the alternative strategies of managing critically ill children. While
trying to maintain the essence of this remarkable resource, we have added information relevant to this part
of the world. Certain topics like sepsis/septic shock definition and management, newer modes of ventilation,
multimodal monitoring, and COVID-19 management, to name a few, have received more extensive revision.
