This book offers readings of the Bible by native biblical critics from the South Pacific (Pasifika). An essay from editor Jione Havea introduces the volume by locating these essays within islander criticism and by explaining the flow of the book. Jione Havea is a native Methodist pastor from Tonga, a research fellow in religious studies at Trinity Methodist Theological College (Aotearoa / New Zealand), an honorary research fellow with the Public and Contextual Theology Research Centre, Charles Sturt University (Australia), and with the University of Divinity (Australia). He is the author of Elusions of Control: Biblical Law on the Words of Women (Society of Biblical Literature) and coeditor of Reading Ruth in Asia (SBL Press).
