The volume contains eleven well-known Burns poems in English, including 'I love my Jean', 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose' and 'John Anderson, My Jo', together with facing-page Chinese translations. The translations, from the 1920s, are by Su Manshu, Wu Fangji, and Liu Pu and finely capture the lyric quality of Burns's poems.
