The Skaldic Verses  (sixteen songs in Old Norse with English translations  provided) recall Viking excursions and experiences in the Holy Land (The Jordon, Nearing Jerusalem, For Pilgrim Warriors). Twelve of the texts are to be found in the Icelandic Orkneyinga Saga. The main poet (skald) is Orkney's warrior saint, Earl Rognvald Kali Kolsonn. Edward W. Watson has provided copious notes on each song and a transliterated line of pronunciation is provided aiming to reconstruct the Old Norse pronunciation for the solo tenor voice. However, each song could be sung to modern Icelandic pronunciation.
