Originally Released in German & Austrian as  'Im Auge des Jägers. Der Wehrmachtsscharfschütze Sepp Allerberger'.

First English Translation by Geoffrey Brooks 2005, This edition Translated by Original Author 2010 (different to earlier version, including photographs not in earlier versions).

This book is a rare first-hand account by a ruthlessly efficient German Army sniper during the bitter conflict that followed the Wehrmacht's invasion of Russia in 1941. Josef 'Sepp' Allerberger was an Austrian conscript who qualified as a Wehrmacht machine-gunner and was drafted to the Southern sector of the 'Ost Front' in July 1942.
After being wounded in action at Voroshilovsk, he experimented successfully with a captured Russian sniper-rifle while
convalescing and returned to his unit as his regiment's only specialist sniper. In the gruelling months that followed, as the German Army was forced to withdraw under almost constant pressure from the Russian army, Allerberger became the second most successful German Army sniper of the entire war, and one of the very few private soldiers to be awarded the 'Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes' (the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross).
This sometimes-harrowing account, shows how there was no place for chivalry on the Eastern Front.
