Well, sometimes it is. Other times not. Just as an example, nobody is ever going to tell you that a commercially made sweet pastry that can sit on a shelf for six months without going moldy is good for you. On the other hand, commercially prepared dill pickles, although high in sodium, won't do you much harm because you're not likely to eat the entire contents of the jar.
