“I’ve often said that these stories are self indulgent, and that I should
apologise for taking you, dear reader, on another adventure inside my head.
However, The Book of the Dead isn’t just self indulgent, it also ties together
a couple of loose threads that I have been teasing at over the years. I did not
know I needed to write this story before writing The Invisible Thread. And,
when I wrote that story, I had no idea it was connected to The Winter Trap.
So, once again, I must apologise for pulling on one thread and then another.
Like all my Greenland Missing Persons stories, The Book of the Dead can
be read without any prior knowledge of the characters or the setting. This
particular story, however, will hopefully be even more entertaining if read
after the two books mentioned above, starting with The Winter Trap.”
