82 reviewsThis is not a story about climate change, at least not the kind that is occurring on a planetary scale. It’s a true account of my successes and failures growing vegetables, semi-tropical fruits and other exotic plants in a free-standing hobby greenhouse located in Ottawa, Canada, where winters are cold and long. I share the many lessons learned through my experiences in building and operating a hobby greenhouse as well as a more recently built sunroom attached to my house.
Here is what a reader had to say about it: "Mr. Manera is a good writer! This small book made me want to read more of his work. I'm here to try out a few more of them. Cost nothing, compared to the really enjoyable "Time Out" that it gave me. It's short, funny at times, and when you are intending to build a greenhouse, has some valuable information for those of us that have not been there yet. There are no real instructions, just Lessons to learn, and they are presented in a way that makes you appreciate how he helps us understand what we are really up against, however he also shares the joys those lessons bring, to someone passionate about growing in a greenhouse."
“The Greenhouse” section remains largely unchanged in this second edition. Over time, however, I have been expanding this publication to include my experiences with “The Sunroom”, as well as “The Basement Garden” and “The Outdoor Garden.” Each section can be read independently of the others. There are several color photographs, which can be viewed on Amazon’s Kindle, but to fully appreciate the color, an e-book reader with color capabilities is best.
