The Hausa of Nigeria is the culmination of thirty-nine years of anthropological thought and research and many field trips to Nigeria. It is an ethnographic reflection of intense field work in Yauri and the surrounding areas that border it, as well as many trips to archives, libraries, and interview sites. It is also the result of discussions with colleagues, especially Salamone's mentor, Charles Frantz, who directed Salamone to Nigeria and who has aided the author's many years of study of the Hausa over time.
