Richard Lynn (born 20 February 1930, Hampstead, London, England) is considered by some academics, politicians and activists as a controversial author. As a consequence, in 2018 this work was withdrawn from Ulster University (Ireland) where Lynn was a former professor emeritus of psychology.

Nonetheless, many consider this a brave and honest work of deep scholarly intent. It addresses issues many other academics have avoided both for tenure and career reasons. Scholars may note that Lynns' methodology has, in the main, not been criticised. Rather its stratification is resultant from the rise of racial polemics on both sides of the Atlantic. As a consequence it has fallen foul of the prevailing ethos predominating in many Anglo-American universities, as academics and too boards of trustees grapple with complex and sensitive issues surrounding race.
