It is hard to believe that this is Dr. Singer's first book, based on how well-written it is. I hope he is working on a second. I simply can't believe how many great ideas are packed into this one short work. I ended up underlining every 5th line or so. Simply put, this book is for everyone who recognizes the mass irrationality of humanity. It will be comforting to find another rational mind who speaks so directly in praising science and reason, and pointing out the folly of the more visible and "popular" aspects of society. I fear this book will be little read because it is too brilliant and filled with more wisdom than most people will be able to connect with. Let's face it, truely intelligent and wise people can't attract much of an audience in our modern world. Should you be one who longs to read some important and well-crafted lines on the state of humanity; where we went wrong and where we got it right, you couldn't do better than to pick up this gem--one of the best books I've read in a long time.
