It is well known that up to 50% deaths in low- and middle-income countries are
because of proper emergency care facilities or poor emergency care. Due to these
facts, State Governments are in the process of strengthening emergency care at all
levels. Building high-quality emergency care will require system improvement and
creating well-trained physicians working in the departments of Emergency Medicine.
The National Medical Commission has mandated that by year 2022–23, all medical
colleges in India would need to have a Department of Emergency Medicine. This
